I've spent a good part of the last few years being frustrated at what appears to be general apathy about training defense economists in Canada.
Few scholars work with military spending data... a 5% club target, based on Canada's 2024 GDP and tabled 2025-2026 budget... yeilds 27% on 'defence.'

Univ Laval is hiring at the junior prof level in municipal and local politics. This fall we became the dept with the largest doctoral program in the faculty. Québec City is the provincial capital and home to the largest civil service in Canada :)

Carignan is right: at every juncture, when democratic armed forces included some previously excluded group (African-Americans, women, LGBTQ+, etc), those opposed always cited how this would upset unit cohesion and create distractions. The actual distraction? Those resisting inclusion. 1/2
