I borrowed Roth’s “Operation Shylock” from the BPL and half way through I noticed I actually own a copy! Having two Roths felt uncannily perfect for a book about doppelgangers. Which copy was the Pipik?

I am never not completely appalled by the amount of people who walk barefoot in all areas of my gym. Every time is like the first time i’m seeing it…a fresh hellscape of warts, athlete’s foot, and ringworm.

I've had this song stuck in my head for the past two weeks. During my insomnia I hear the sax parts on a loop.

Few people know that studying anti-bird spikes almost got me arrested. 👮

I snapped this picture of carefully placed spikes on security cameras at a London train station—just because I thought it looked funny. Within seconds I was surrounded by police.

They didn’t find it funny. 😬 1/5

Just finished reading Siri Hustvedt's 'What I Loved'. Man, that book had me in tears several times, and I've read some sad books lately about grief that didn't make me cry at all (see: 'Crying in H Mart'). The first two parts are incredible.

I just learned what emu eggs look like! The pattern reminds me of vermiculate masonry (meant to look like worm tracks) and also Ken Price's sculptures.

It's odd when you spend years looking for a difficult bird and have limited success, but then suddenly the bird shows up and hangs out with you for an hour, in the open, less than two meters away.

I was out in the backyard when the local wolf chorus started up. Such an amazing sound. There was one calling from north east of my cottage and the pack was answering from the southwest. I apologize for my breathing. I had to run into the house and find my phone. I’m still vibrating.

Just finished "Creation Lake", Rachel Kushner's new book. Really enjoyed this one! The aloof, jaded and opinionated narrator, the lengthy 'early man' sections, the descriptive minor characters...oof!
