Hey #kidlit community! I write PB & MG, fiction & NF. All for creativity, play, intimacy, curiosity. I ❀️ writing about the natural world but have recently gotten geeky with tech STEM projects. Writing kept me alive through decades home in bed fr chronic illness. Aiming for pub, committed regardless.
🫢🏼 πŸ’š Salmon Run πŸ’š 🫢🏼 by Annie Chen

Watercolors transport the reader to a water world,
revealing the salmon's lifecycle. So simple, so elegant.

It's enough to learn one beautiful thing about the world. 🐟

πŸ’–πŸ’€πŸ’– Delightfully peculiar stories.
Marvelous illustrations. πŸ’–πŸ’€πŸ’–

Just coming here to share this!

I think it was a good decision! The one you went with is striking and easy to understand.
November 14, 2025 at 9:35 PM
Yup. It was such a broad voter suppression proposal that the defeat doesn't say anything about the popularity of a voter ID requirement.
November 5, 2025 at 5:57 PM
It was so much more than voter ID. So even though the voter ID element alone should have killed it, in this case I think most voters would see something in it that would impact them or someone they're connected to. I'm not sure you can use this victory to draw conclusions about voter ID laws.

Such an encouraging story!

✨The magical mind of @carolynfisher.bsky.social
has turned measuring (& its arbitrary conventions)
into delight and play.✨

πŸ‹ So freakin' clever. πŸ¦•

Plus, AWESOME backmatter:
There IS a 1 cm species of centipede! (I was skeptical.)
And I love donkey power! (Units!)

Marvelous drawings of a traffic jam
and that rain-heavy sky
and so many looking away,
as a kitten crosses traffic.
But someone...
_screeech!_

A meditation
a provocation
a call to be late...

just in time.

I kept thinking,
"We're all this kitten."

πŸŒ™ πŸ‘½ So gentle and wise, this one. And funny. πŸ‘½ πŸŒ™

My 7-yo niece says it's "one of the best books ever." And repeats and repeats the title with dramatic glee.

We Are _Definitely_ Human by X. Fang
is definitely delightful.

May quiet books rule again. πŸ“šπŸ‘

I'm harassed by a recurring dream that I have to go back to high school, but maybe I just need to make sure I get in your class and it'll be great.

πŸ§™πŸ§™ I adore the emotional arc in This Year, a Witch! πŸ“šπŸ‘πŸΌ

This was my first of Zoey Abbott's, and I immediately gobbled up every other one I could get.

She is _masterful_ at making a potent story out of every day stuff. Just exactly what I love. πŸ’•

Super intrigued! Integrating science and story, fact and feeling, is certainly my dream, so I can't wait to read it. In the meantime, can you say anything more about the science part? I'm puzzling over the "trillions of years ago" timeline in a universe much younger than that. What am I missing?

Working class occupations are sooooo underrepresented in #Kidlit. More of this please!

@jesustrejo.bsky.social masterfully turns an ordinary water jug into the golden thread on which the story beats are strung. And @elizakinkz.bsky.social makes nonstop fun of line and color.
