There are a lot of people who seem to think Prinnies originated in the PSP game Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero?
But in fact Prinnies, as well as my username, started in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, one of my all time favorite games!

In Revelations this is doubly bad because that's a survival horror game about resource management. How do you know when the right time is to heal when you can't properly read your health? How do you know if you should risk another hit. That's not tense, that's just frustrating.

Dead Space was revolutionary for this particular thing but even it had a health bar because of your spine having a literal bar on it. It worked because it was readable to the player. Making the game harder to see during the time when you need to be able to see the most is counter-intuitive.

Playing RE Revelations again and I can tell you I don't miss that weird time where shooters/action games decided to get rid of UI elements and instead denote your health by a blood graphic around the screen or a strong grayscale...or in Revelations case...both.

For more clarification: Only those two games are like that. Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night (which you don't own based on this image?) are directly linked but you can play Symphony (The later one) without playing Rondo first. Rondo just gives a bit extra context.

Whatever you do, don't start with Dawn of Sorrow. It has a huge spoiler for Aria of Sorrow so you should definitely play Aria before Dawn.
