Random follow-up musings: I’m discovering after a month and a half into this unofficial “physical media” project, I’m much more than likely to watch a movie I own in my hands (whether from a buy or a rental from my public library) than streaming it. Even if I rent the stream for $5.99. (🧵1/4)
In 2026, you’ll likely see less “first-time watches” from me and notice way more rewatches/revisits of films. Something I’m working on this year is actually cracking open the latest physical media I bought this past year, taking time to read the booklets and comb through the special features.

Rest in peace, Robert Duvall 🖤
So many amazing performances throughout an illustrious career. To honor him, I feel moved to share this scene from 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘚𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘪 (1979). My father still quotes it before meals to this very day:

The thing about Casablanca being the greatest film of all time is people don't believe you and then they watch it
You ever stop and think about CASABLANCA? You ever stop and think about "Welcome back to the fight, this time, I know our side will win?" You ever think about a bar full of people defiantly singing La Marseillaise, played by a soundstage full of Jewish refugees? You ever think about CASABLANCA??????

Loved how Clarice was visibly scared as she decided to stay with Catherine Martin & take Buffalo Bill on. She would rather be anywhere else but that would be leaving a fellow woman to die. She’s still one of the most complex, vulnerable, smart & brave female protagonists in genre cinema.
