Popeularhistory.com and all podcatchers. Alexa doesn't know how to say popeular, though.

I also host Cardinal Numbers and edit Pontifacts.

Much of this week will be dedicated to catching up on a number of things, including sleep debt. But don't worry, I'm already working on a fairly lengthy admin update episode, since I know you guys love those!

Happy 100 to me! This is a special episode where I discuss Catholicism with Gregg from the @popeular.bsky.social. Fun Fact: This episode was recorded during the sede vacante between the death of Francis and the election of Leo XIV.

In part 2 of my discussion with Gregg, we examine the concept of Papal supremacy in the middle ages based on the evidence already discussed in the show, and how the modern Church might feel about it in terms of later doctrinal developments.

We wil be livestreaming #smokewatch in just a few minutes. White smoke is *not* anticipated but boy would we feel silly if it happened and we weren't rolling.

There will be no black smoke expected in this time window, as they burn the morning ballots together unless there's no second ballot...

With Trump's self-insert, I now consider Cardinal Zuppi the most likely Papabili, with Tagle a close second.

Having appointed 110 of the 138 Cardinal-Electors, it's not a question of whether Pope Francis will leave his mark on the Papacy. It's a question of how dark the ink will be.

Ok, Popeular History is on hiatus until I can figure out how work/life balance works with my new work/life. All good things, it's just my time off used to largely be when the kids were busy at school or whatever and now that I can have more family time I'm going to sieze that.
December 2, 2024 at 5:27 AM
Due to a number of factors, the release schedule for Popeular History and Cardinal Numbers is going to be quite fuzzy until Spring when we can properly kick the kids out to go play outside again. I will get you as many of the new Cardinals as I can before the 12/7 consistory.

Episode planned for November is looking like first half of December.
I'm already on hiatus so this is par for the course and I don't want to clutter my feed with putting a notice out in bad quality audio form like I used to, but I figured I could go ahead and send this message out across channels.

I don't know what the Synod will bring, but I know I will remain in communion with the Pope. Not a hard call, that.
