Given the recent headlines about Toronto police involvement in organized crime, attempted murder, and other abuse of residents, we have a right to demand that the city fund community- shelter, library, transit- instead of violence workers. Visit anothertoronto.ca

From the Toronto Star- not only do the Toronto Police not FIRE police who use the database to stalk women who won’t date them and violate the privacy of their exes and others, the only consequence is that they are docked pay. Cut their funds and divert the $ to women’s shelters.

Canada is not only complicit with the presence of ICE officers but through the mass deportations that began at the end of the Trudeau government and escalated further by the Carney government. Not to mention the brutality of closing the door to asylum seekers crossing at the border through SCTA.

ICE has offices in 5 Canadian cities and has been part of major police operations. Given its role in escalating fascist authoritarianism this should be a clear NO. Abolish ICE and its transnational reach. ici.radio-canada.ca/rci/en/news/...

I have a new chapter in the 2026 edition of Policing Black Lives on how police reform has expanded police power to surveil, monitor and criminalize Black communities for 70+ years now. Did you know in Canada community policing (first in parkdale, in Toronto ) has been a “reform” since the 1960s?

I get why people say that abolishing ICE isn't radical because ICE is so young, but I actually do think we should emphasize that abolishing ICE, if it's going to have material impacts and align with the movements that birthed the demand, is indeed a radical thing.
