the growing VN/management-sim indie game genre being called 'tokimersonas' sorry i'm sorry
beginning to have doubts about whether officially localizing tokimeki memorial one day is actually the right thing to do if it means we risk the genre being subsequently rechristened as tokimekilikes, a string of letters that somehow only gets more painful to read the deeper into the word you get

the technologically-enforced monopolies over games and their distribution is a huge part of what keeps them carnival games/disney movies; more widespread/simple phone distribution (either through some set of web standards or emulation or SOMETHING) can't come fast enough. remember flash???????????
One factor I come back to is the way in which game storefronts have a de facto monopoly over games distribution. For sure you can still buy the game elsewhere, but margins are very thin for indie devs, so deplatforming them means devs will avoid making similar games, and our media is worse for that.

I've seen a couple Evangelion title card generators going around so here's mine, newly re-hosted (RIP Glitch). Do the other ones simulate broadcast video in pure CSS by using individually animated red/green/blue drop shadows? I have no idea, but mine does. paulstarr.dev/eva/
