But you need the moderates to begin with. Overturning R v. W was decades long effort to move the needle. If you come out of the gate with Abolish ICE you are going to turn people off. Instead why not talk about containing and restraining ICE. Win and then make the big changes.
Part of the reason the justices were able to deny it and maintain support was credulous coverage and the reassurance from the rest of the republican party that they were lying.

We need the radicals and the moderates and the people who are radicals pretending to be moderates to do stuff.

That Republicans think they have less fraud in their ranks and so feel comfortable targeting political appointees for fraud is a…choice.

Through the Big Ugly Law, Trump will give $117 billion in tax cuts to the top 1% this year. With that money, we could keep health care affordable for 22 million people each year for decades — with plenty to spare.

@janbakker.tech comes through again for me (with a four year old article no less) on how to send an email to someone who has been added to a group.

Microsoft MVP’s are the best! 🙏🎉

Did you ever want to act on a change in group membership in Azure AD, for example, when a user is added to or removed from a specific group? I have found an easy way to do this with the use of Power A...

Allow me to connect some dots for you:

Too much of the world currently relies for its basic functions on resources which must be continuously extracted. You burn that oil one time and oops, now you need more.

Geopolitical horrors are, in fact, one of the reasons we need to move to renewables ASAP.

this seems specifically designed to break mail-in voting (where deadlines are defined by postmark)
As of 12/24/25, USPS changed policy on when they postmark mail. Mail dropped off is no longer guaranteed a same-day postmark. Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.

@merill.net, this is a small issue, but in the spirit of Least Privileged Access I wish I didn’t have to be Billing Admin just to be able to see the price of Microsoft subscriptions. As a non-profit, I can’t use the published pricing, so to know how much something costs I need Admin rights.
December 8, 2025 at 3:51 PM
Remember the old days when the value proposition for the subscription model was “you pay us a recurring fee to cover all the neat new features we’ll include with the product in the future” and not “rent this software from us and if we add new features we’ll provide them to you as an add-on bundle.”

How broken is today's frontend culture?

A friend points out that the median *mobile* page is now larger than a copy of DOOM (2.6 MiB vs. 2.48 MiB), the 75th percentile page is more than 2 DOOMs, and the P90 mobile page is 4.5x the size of DOOM:

While sports betting is a real concern, what really concerns me is betting on election outcomes on polymarket, and the feedback loop those prediction markets create.
Yesterday's sports gambling bombshell isn't an outlier. Actually, it's alarmingly normal. Gambling scandals are the new American pastime. But there is an easy way to head off the next crisis: Take prop bets off the board. My piece for the @theatlantic.com

Prop Bets Must Die
As long as one player can fix the outcome of a wager, the temptation will prove irresistible to some athletes.
