the success of the user-created For You feed while the official Discover feed flops is actually a pretty major win for Bluesky — it literally is the embodiment of their goal to decentralize feed generation and give users more control/autonomy

Dear community, last time you helped us reach lots of new BlueSky followers. Now that we see that there is an exodus on X, it is important that these people can also find us on BlueSky for all necessary updates about Ukraine.

Would you like to share this message, preferably with a quote? Thanks!

“I truly hope that people will stay calm, will not panic, and will remember that the international community is made of 193 states, and this is the time to give the US what it has been looking for – isolation!”

In case you missed it, I buried my father last week, which was… complicated. I ended up writing two essays about it. One before, and one after. They’re not happy things to read, but if you also have “complicated” relationships with your parents you might find some solace in them.

Moi, c'est contre: le gars, par son attitude insupportable, est à l'origine de l'échec d'un gouvernement MR à Bruxelles.

Andrew Tanner may have a point: "European policymakers are praised for using frozen Russian assets as collateral for loans to Ukraine, a mechanism that pressures Moscow without outright seizure and gives future Russian elites an incentive to remove Putin in exchange for potential unfreezing."
Another Christmas Without Peace In Ukraine
Ukraine's fourth Christmas season of total war has arrived with precious little hope of peace breaking out any time soon. By the fifth, the situation should look much better.

Russia’s apparent tactical gains in Donbas, around Pokrovsk, Siversk, and Lyman, actually move Moscow closer to strategic defeat because each advance into Ukrainian defenses becomes a costly trap that exhausts Russian troops and resources. Ukrainian forces trade space for attrition.
⚡️ Ukraine withdraws from Siversk, Donetsk Oblast, General Staff says.

Ukrainian soldiers withdrew from the settlement "in order to save lives and maintain the combat capability of units."

About 4 years into the war and EU is far from doing everything it can do legally to put pressure on Russia.
The baltic sea is an easy one: intensify maritime surveillance and coordinate inspections in the Baltic Sea to disrupt Russia's shadow fleet on the basis of ecological and security risks.

Just did a Substack Live with Ukrainian General Volodomyr Havrylov. He gave a fascinating overview of the changes in the war. For instance, now Ukraine is close to inflicting 50% of the casualties on the Russians using only 10% of the Ukr military. open.substack.com/pub/phillips...
