It’s destroying the medium.” That isn’t always the case Elon. Plagerism is a serious problem, sometimes info on who made it could be lost, malicious people can heavily edit so that even “reverse image search” won’t work. Thus the original artist remains unknown. Making it easy to find the source doesn’t destroy the medium, it’s just info.
