Facebook wants me to believe Tim Curry died nine years ago, even though he's still very much alive with a memoir coming out this year

Just remembered an old mission companion of mine recounting to me the plot of the 1985 film Brewster's Millions, and I just realized he mistook Richard Pryor...for Steve Harvey

Has anyone ever seen Lonny Price and Ethan Slater in the same room together?

Alternate caption: the Dirty Dancing/SpongeBob crossover nobody knew they wanted

Is it just me, or do Lenny von Dohlen and David Schwimmer look like they should have played brothers at some point?

Julie Andrews stars as a child caretaker who, while it seems like she's there initially to help the children, she's actually there to change the heart of their father. Which film is it?

1. Mary Poppins
2. The Sound of Music

Opened up TikTok to see the awful Trump-praising notification/propaganda for myself and found a pretty apt background that sums up my feelings on the whole thing

Another crazy fact that blows my mind in particular: Jamiel Chagra, brother of Joe Chagra the drug dealer who hired Harrison's father to do the hit, was acquitted because Joe refused to testify against him.

Jamiel's public defender was none other than Oscar Goodman, future mayor of Las Vegas.
The weirdest bit of movie trivia I know: in the book No Country for Old Men, Sheriff Bell references the recent assassination of a federal judge. That was a real case and the killer was a hitman named Charles V. Harrelson... who happens to be the father of actor Woody Harrelson, who is in the film.

If anyone has any examples like this that show media being used on social media in a way that's opposite from its original context, I'd love to see them!
I'm fascinated by the way that images and gifs become divorced from their original context when they become memes on social media.

For example: this gif of Bart throwing away the cake reading "at least you tried"
bart simpson is looking at a cake that says at least you tried
Alt: bart simpson is looking at a cake that says at least you tried and throws it in the garbage

Saw Heretic last night and I have a lot of thoughts, including how Mormons and Mormon culture are portrayed in such detail that's rarely shown on film.

Spoilers ahead

(Seriously, if you haven't seen the film, go watch it and then come back here)

I saw the musical wonder.land (based on Alice in Wonderland) on a study abroad in London back in 2016, and to this day, I can't ever forget the way the actor playing the White Rabbit came out riding a Segway screaming "DOUBLE U DOUBLE U DOUBLE U" over and over again.

Anyone remember the movie The Pagemaster with Macaulay Culkin? It was my favorite movie when I was 3 and I learned to read Exit signs because of it. And I think it actually achieved one of its goals: it helped me get really into reading books at a young age.

The first rule of persuasion is whoever controls the topic controls the outcome

You do not, actually, have to debate people who want you to debate them!

Deny the debate
Deny the premise of the debate
Deny the idea of a debate

That’s how you win a debate you don’t control the topic of
You don’t have to subject yourself to slurs and Russian bot farms in order to understand “different perspectives” actually
