Turned 40 just in time to realize I'll never be allowed to retire.
"I don't f---ing care that they have weapons. They're not here to hurt me. Take the f---ing mags away. Let my people in. They can march to the Capitol from here." ~Trump on Jan 6th
Trump: "With that being said, you can't have guns. You can't walk in with guns. You just can't. You can't walk in with guns. You can't do that. But it's just a very unfortunate incident."

I wonder when the Bundy's are going to swoop into Minneapolis and occupy some government facility while armed to protest coercion through federal power (and paying your bills)

I thoroughly enjoyed The Bone Temple. As much as I love a frenetic action horror movie having a more thoughtful thriller vibe punctuated by undead ultraviolence kept my unbroken attention.

At this point I'm morbidly curious about what MAGA is actually like in person. I have somehow existed in a nearly unbroken progressive bubble my entire life and the Republicans I have known were exorcised from my life for racism, misogyny, abuse, and wage theft years before 2016...

The TACO cycle:

Markets want to price in TACO. But TACO only works if Trump sees stocks tank.

So we get a loop: Trump does things → nothing happens (markets already priced in TACO) → that emboldens him to do more → until markets start to think he might not TACO → stocks fall → TACO is restored.

How long after this is over are we going to learn that a huge chunk of our government was on an insider trading text chain with Trump?

They all bought low it just took a diplomatic emergency to convince markets to react this time because we are so used to this behavior.
Trump: "Based upon a very productive meeting I had with Mark Rutte, we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region. This solution, if consummated, will be a great one... Based upon this understanding, I will not be imposing the Tariffs"

After Davos the admin will back down because they bought the biggest dip and can pretend world leaders changed their minds or made a deal. The world is obviously tired of this and markets are being less reactive to make up for it so they keep having to push harder to get what they want.

If someone would make DVD's that remove all of Trump's cameos I would buy them. My quiet evening of Zoolander did not need that shock sprinkled in.

I have worked for local government for nearly 5 years now, we don't really have a way to deal with deranged intransigent rich landowners. There are so many systems in place to prevent the system from abusing people with limited means but people with significant means use those to abuse the system.

I can't overstate how growing up near NYC and Atlantic City in the 90s cemented in my mind a perception of Trump as an unserious asshole who abuses the legal system to get out of paying his bills. Just an ignorant bully with money.
