COP30 has limped to an end.

Leaders should watch the Aussies win the first Ashes test. Backs against the wall but they didn't give up, and it was a surprise turn around.

Our backs are against the wall on climate, peeps.
We can't give up.
We really need a surprise turn around.

BIG time.

Do you care?

Are you concerned about extreme weather?
Do you feel sad about poverty?
Are you worried about racism, sexism, ageism, religious fundamentalism?
Do you care enough to participate in bluesky, like, reply & repost important posts?

Because shouting into the void has never felt so brutal.

Both our side blocks were subdivided so they have miniscule gardens, and all our stupid neighbours want to do is complain about our beautiful trees.
1. The trees were here before them
2. Our trees rid the air of pollution and provide shade, cooling & habitat
3. Do any of them fucking breathe?

Getting govt to reduce fossil fuel subsidies is unlikely.

But what if they decided to spend the same amount on:
retraining coal workers
tax breaks for EV/Hybrid/PHEV owners
grants for regenerative ag farmers
Electrifying public transport
etc.

We're talking $14 billion

Would you support that?

SA govt sent us all out an Algal Bloom Information Pack.

It's a glossy 12 page A4 brochure with plenty of photos.

Kinda ironic given this sort of waste of the world's resources and lack of respect for its forests and waterways is what probably got us here in the first place.

Sigh.

The coming generation -

Crippled by HECS debts

Unable to afford a house

Unemployed by AI

Taxed to look after elders living long but infirm & the increasing numbers disabled by covid

Part of a massively falling population

Facing climate catastrophe

Doesn't look real promising, does it?
😳

Sorry to be a doomer, but stories like this make me so sad. I watch everyone going about their life as if we weren't headed for global disaster on an unprecedented scale.

How much money should you put into averting the coming disaster?

All of it.

I just want to make sure... You do know renewables are just one part of the fix right?

Like agriculture, deforestation, plastics, pollution, landfill, soil degradation, urban heat effect from infill, ocean acidification/coral bleaching/algal bloom...

There's quite a big list.
“The reason it is happening is a profound surge of renewable energy generation in the country. In October, for the first time ever, clean energy trumped fossil fuels in supplying electricity to homes and businesses on the eastern seaboard”

www.abc.net.au/news/2025-11...
The wind blows, yet turbines lie still. It's a symptom of Australia's renewables glut
Mountains of clean power are regularly "wasted" as Australia's energy system evolves. But a large amount of battery storage is waiting in the wings, ready to soak it up.

Once again vulnerable kids are left out of policy, just like Australia's upcoming detail-lacking social media ban for under 16s.

No scope for disabled kids, socially isolated kids, and kids who need to be contactable at school.

How many more kids get home schooled when these kind of bans begin?
😡
'Ultimately, the anti-smartphone crusade feels like a nostalgic yearning for a simpler time that never truly existed. The solution isn't a ban that relieves us of our educational duty'
