One of the parents sent me this, telling me that their child had arranged their mandarin segments like this, and they thought I would like to see it. They know me well.
Twelve mandarin segments are arranged around a brown plate. Eight of them are in a ring, at eight compass points, with their convex side facing out. The north, south, east and west segments are on their own, but the other four have companion segments next to them, towards the centre of the plate, with their convex edge facing inwards. The plate is on some blue fabric.
