Dublin. No longer intelligent.
Reddit is just a place I go to see whether the podcast I just listened to was really that bad.

dipping into someone else's project today and learning to write Tailwind CSS and it is mystifying. Why are devs so afraid of CSS that a class list like this in a hundred places is preferable to writing 6 CSS attributes once?

Straight men’s astrology is having a vague sense of the month of your friends’ birthdays (never the dates) that is somehow loosely associated with your impression of their personalities.

My most annoying take is that all the "bad" Alien movies (except Whedon's) deserved a more intelligent audience than they received.
Watching Alien Covenant. What a hall of mirrors! It posits that humanity played Frankenstein in creating AI, and AI in turn was so disgusted by us that it created new predators to wipe us out. Bonus: you get to see an android tell another, identical android "no one will ever love you like I do."

All AI hype is predicated on the idea that life will get better if we have easier access to more information, which has become self-evidently untrue.

The deep courage it takes to bait your paychecks like this is slightly offset by how satisfying it must be to do it as an Irish person.

Truth.

I remember in the friggin' 90s reading essays by forward-thinking hacker types who were like "We cannot allow the internet to become funded and sustained by advertisers, it must be nationalized now as a public service" and thinking "Seems dramatic!"

lol.

LOOOOL.
my Book will be a grand unifying theory about how pay-per-click advertising is the Original Sin of the internet that got us here, and also in terms of raw dollars the largest scam in the history of the world.
