i'm just gonna give a shoutout to Dirty Secrets by Seth Ben-Ezra, which i think is a lesser-known GM-less TTRPG. It's a mystery game that heavily inspired my own game, After the Mind, the World Again, and uses liar's dice as an adjudication mechanic. I haven't played it because I suck at gambling.

Yes, this is a structural pov not a thematic one, but it's the only semi-reliable guideline I've found for what works *only* in one, not the other. everything follows from that, ime.

the basic rule I use for ttrpgs vs larps is, in TTRPGs you describe, in LARPs you do. "I'm so pissed I punch him in the face" in a TTRPG, in a LARP means you make your body angrily punch another body in the face. A stage fight is still *acted out*.

I ran a freeform game and people enjoyed it but I was too tired to push against the tide when the venue's so far from me anyway

yeah this is also why I gave up on intercon. the beautiful lil freeform weird games are such a minority in comparison to litform secrets and powers games that take up all the time slots cuz they last like 6+ hrs while the freeform ones are like 2, 3hrs max

i'm gonna be real. i totally get and support why poc have created the phrases "Black bodies" and "brown bodies" (discrimination, dehumanization, and worse based on what we look like as opposed to who we are, etc)
but when i see white people using the phrases, it feels weird. i dunno.
