We needed this news SO MUCH ❤️

The Spanish government has announced today a broad regularisation programme which could benefit around 500.000 people.

At a time when a hostile environment against migrants is spreading on both sides of the Atlantic, this move shows both humanity and common sense.
🚨 Top UN human rights experts have signed a letter to EU institutions denouncing human rights risks in the EU Deportation Regulation.

This is a damning condemnation of a draconian measure that sees and treats migrants as a threat.

🎉 BREAKING: Human rights and transparency can’t be sidelined. Following our complaint, the EU Ombudsperson found the Commission breached its own rules.

This decision should be a wake-up call for EU institutions to ensure accountability, public scrutiny, human rights protections in EU policymaking.

🚨 The European Parliament is about to start debating a law that would harm millions across Europe. With 250+ groups we call on EU lawmakers to reject it.

We were happy to meet the Commissioner to discuss combatting the exploitation of undocumented workers, including improving labour inspections, remedy mechanisms and regularisation programmes.

Fundamental and human rights are non negotiable. The labour rights of undocumented people are no exception.
I met with @PICUM_ today to discuss the protection of migrants from exploitation, the prevention of illegal employment and ensuring a level playing field in Europe’s labour market.

The French Constitutional Court has ruled against the extension of immigration detention in France to up to 7 months. While a good step forward, other problematic points remain. Full comment by @lacimade.org.

In the Netherlands, police can't enter a church during service. When a family took shelter in the Kampen church to escape their deportation, people flocked to ensure the service never stops. It's now being going on for over 8 months 🥹

This is the Europe we love.

When Europe's focus is on "protecting borders", rights violations are bound to continue. With or without investigations.
What has changed in investigating rights violations at EU borders?

This update from the @fra.europa.eu points to continued allegations of ill treatment & abuse but limited accountability.

Immigration raids and criminalisation are not a US exclusive. We spoke to @voxeurop.bsky.social about what's happening in Europe.
In Europe just as in Trump's America, the creeping criminalisation of migration and solidarity
An obsession with security is increasingly putting both migrants and human-rights defenders on the wrong side of the law. The trend is the same in both the USA and Europe.
