For the heck of it, here's a shot of my desk, with a key. The last show I was in when I lived in Indianapolis was The Vast Difference, a comedy by Jeff Daniels. The Groucho glasses are a souvenir from the time PJ and I saw An Evening with Groucho (starring the great Frank Ferrante). PJ and I…

The Groucho glasses are a souvenir from the time PJ and I saw An Evening with Groucho (starring the great Frank Ferrante). PJ and I saw The Cher Show in its pre-Broadway tryout in Chicago. A cool print I picked up at the only time Comic-Con Revolution came to the Chicagoland area (and then came COVID, sadly).

Still I think it gets the point across.

NOTES: I changed the female character from Illuminesse to Knight Light, who has a different set of powers but can still glow, so the action didn't change much. Since I'm thinking of tying this into one of the novels I'm working on, I wanted to remove Iluminesse, because her story arc in the novel is different. Allison sighed as the door clicked shut, hanging up her keys on the hook next to the door and turning the deadbolt. It had been one of those days, when "one of those days" meant exercising a supreme level of self-control to keep from demonstrating the meaning of the word "defenestration" on her boss, who had been particularly, stubbornly, micromanaging most of the day, peppering her with some of the inanest questions she'd heard since she'd started on the project.

Alan’s hot takes, Snyderverse edition
I'm doing this because last night, before Paul started recording us for the latest Subs podcast, we talked about the new Superman movie. (I know, that's a real stretch, Legion of Super-Heroes fans having thoughts about the new Superman movie.) In the discussion, I said what I've said a thousand times before: I'm not a Zack Snyder fan, but I don't dislike his Superman-related films ("Man of Steel," "Batman v. Superman," and his "Justice League" cut) as much as some of his most virulent haters. Which turned into "Alan's defending the Snyderverse." Which in turn led me to get royally pissed off that once again, heaven forbid that you don't loathe the Snyderverse.

Thoughts on the new Superman movie.

We saw James Gunn's new Superman movie on Thursday, and I have some thoughts about it. I'll start by saying that this isn't a review. I don't do movie reviews because I don't feel I have the right background for it. I can tell you what I like and don't like, but…

We saw James Gunn's new Superman movie on Thursday, and I have some thoughts about it. I'll start by saying that this isn't a review. I don't do movie reviews because I don't feel I have the right background for it. I can tell you what I like and don't like, but without at least a film class or two under my belt, I can't tell you if what I see and like or dislike has a basis in anything other than just a visceral reaction. I'm also going to say up front that while I'm not a major Zack Snyder fan, I did like some of the DCEU films.

This is a reminder this site's staff are not our friends.

Palestinian people, black people, & trans folk have all been scapegoated despite actively being part of helping build this site's success.

The community & care we bring makes this site grow & profitable, but we're readily sold out by them.
So lets talk moderation, @support.bsky.team, @moderation.bsky.app, why u 1000% suck, why no one has *any* faith in you, why youre very transparently bought, & why no one should be giving any $$$ whatsoever to support you

For those who dont know, I was suspended yesterday. Why? I dunno! You tell me!
Hey @moderation.bsky.app why did you suspend Jon Gray and not even tell him why?

The dude hasn't even been active on here except for the last like 4 days and not you suspend him? He's basically the Mr Rogers of Bsky you idiots
