The CMA found that web apps are NOT CURRENTLY a viable replacement for native apps on iOS, and that multiple content providers had indicated that Apple's restrictions on browsers were to blame:

Woop woop!
Paragraph 779 of today's judgement: "We find that Apple’s restrictions do eliminate effective competition in those markets by removing all sources of competition."

Words of wisdom.

New is not always better. "Boring" sometimes is.

My take on the Flow -> TS; with types in comments - no Babel -> SWC compiler problem (it's just JS).

When TS eventually becomes unpopular/replaced - a new compiler migration will be needed 🤷

Jake tells us why we can't have nice things 😬
I dug into progressive image rendering and found a bunch of common assumptions aren't quite true.

➡️ JPEG & WebP progressive-renders worse in Safari
➡️ AVIF _does_ support progressive
➡️ But JPEG XL in Safari doesn't
➡️ JPEG XL decodes much slower than AVIF
⬇️ and more

#Chrome devtools is doing my head in 😫

I have clearly defined a `grid-gap` property on my grid - but Chrome refuses to show it in the inspector - unless - I check "show all" and look for `column-gap` and `row-gap`. 😞

it's kinda weird that all the software i am expected to use for work are all written by distributed teams, go, python, postgres, linux, chrome, k8s etc

and despite being told "the best teams work in an office together" i don't know of any software i use that's actually written that way

I was sifting through the features on Interop Feature Ranking and misread "scroll-driven animations" as "soul-driven animations" - and it still made sense 🤷

Why I 🧡 the web.

This #WebGL game where you deliver messages on a tiny planet is amazing. Smooth animation. Peaceful vibes (and i didn't even play, I wondered around).

Browsers: Let's support wide-gamut colors in CSS.

Also browsers: Let's not support it in <input type="color" />

"Remote viewing" sounds pretty far out there to me.

But it keeps popping up in Youtube suggestions 🤔 (damn algo).

This bit from a documentary on the subject; a guy demoes it on live japanese TV 🤯

Impressed they even make a spin-off show where they find missing ppl!

Reminds me of a splash screen I made some 15(?) years ago - only just with text-shadow 😅

(Don't remember why i didn't make it as a CSS anim 🤷)

The scale of Trump's pay-for-access scheme outlined by the @nytimes.com is mindblowing. Crypto contributions resulting in business deals with the Trump family crypto businesses, oil companies buying influence and later reaping benefits from friendly policies, and a $1 million pardon.
