Is there a way to “short” a person?
A startup backed by Donald Trump Jr.'s venture capital firm just got a $620M loan from the DoD, months after the Pentagon gave a major drone contract to ANOTHER Trump Jr.-backed company.

This is what kleptocracy looks like. https://popular.info/p/update-trump-jr-backed-startup-receives

I challenge our Capitol Hill bartenders to create a Fog of War cocktail in honor of the war secretary. It should be bitter, very strong and burn.
By invoking “fog” as a catch-all excuse, the secretary risks creating the conditions for blame to be pushed downward onto the very service members who executed an order under pressure. lnk.thebulwark.com/4ptOmNe

I’m sure no house members are worried about a D+6 midterm.
Johnson: This is not a bellwether of things to come. Blue states and blue cities went blue. That was no surprise to anyone.

“Strategy” indeed. About as successful as his time in “higher” ed.

Just a photo of World Central Kitchen feeding federal government workers. Totally normal stuff. Would be nice if WCK didn’t need to focus resources on feeding people in the wealthiest country in the world.

We need to fight for arts education for many reasons but maybe the most pressing reason is that the rise of AI will mean that we will be an economy of creatives. We need to foster that now.
I’ve spent the past 2 months fighting to protect arts programs at my kids’ school. Community organizing, emails, social media, testimony. The district finally listened.

At the fall concert, parents kept coming up to me to say, “You did it! Thank you!”

If I do nothing else in my life, I did that.

I mused with a few of my higher ed friends this summer about ending tenure once you can collect SS. We need to create movement in the ranks and free up budgets to support the next generation.

Weird, I assumed Butker would miss his kicks too far to the right. Either way good to see him miss.

I’m shocked that Trump and Hegseth wanted to show off their dazzling intellect in front of 800 much smarter people. Never thought they would actively invite a cop either.

I don’t lightly correct a hero of mine BUT the second to last word should be “and” not “or”.

Sunday musings… the Republican party was created out of anti-slavery Whigs and the nativist Know Nothing Party. They have completely returned to the nativist know nothing party and I think the name fits perfectly.

Staff work at the WH continues to impress. If he can’t read words you should not try and make him do it in a “major” news conference.

Also, Tylenol manufacturer (kenvue?) should sue the pants off this administration or they will get sued themselves. This is bonkers.

I can’t fathom the cost but Disney should move the fuck out of Florida. If that’s too hard at least ask for the kids vaccination certificates before entering the park.

I’m not a political savant by any stretch so take with a grain of salt. If Texas wants to dilute safe R house seats by taking them for r+10 to r+5 they might lose them all if next year is a D+7 election which is very possible. Just saying…. House R’s might not like their new thinner margins.
