I realize we're fighting against huge cultural forces re: attention spans, but one of my guiding ideologies in game development is, though possibly naive, if you want a player to speak your game's language, you have to actually speak it.
I don't think you should meet players where they are.

What's pissing me off about the Anno 117 GenAI use is that this is a really great game (yes, I'm still playing it: I paid for it pre-finding out) that clearly has a lot of love and genuine craft in it.

This is an excellently-written review, and maybe the first I've seen that considers both the base quality of the game AND its moral and artistic integrity, especially in the face of the studio's AI use.
For Arc Raiders to ride the wave of human sociability all the way to the bank, while also being so contemptuous of the thing that makes us social animals in its own workflow demonstrates a lack of artistic integrity that I find impossible to ignore.
