According to the latest findings by @bsc-cns.bsky.social , extreme weather, driven by climate change, is sending food prices surging across the globe. For countries reliant on imports, these climate-fuelled disruptions carry real risks - especially vulnerable households struggling with living costs.

Kerr County, Texas, wasn’t prepared for the flood that killed more than 100 this weekend.

Other communities across the U.S. may be just as vulnerable, experts warn — citing the soaring toll of climate change and steep Trump-era cuts to weather and disaster spending.
Why Texas’ floods are a warning for the rest of the country
The disaster that unfolded in Kerr County, Texas shows how many communities will struggle to prepare for extreme weather as the federal government pulls back.

Ford and politicos like him are setting us up for a climate future we don’t want. www.thestar.com/news/ontario...
They say Muskoka won’t burn. But climate has changed the calculus
Computer models have failed to predict a series of “impossible” blazes — which means more places once thought of as safe need to start confronting the risk.

Global average temperature is expected to rise to almost 2C above preindustrial in the next five years, according to the WMO, with falls in crop yields and more than a third of the world’s population being exposed to extreme heat.

People, I'm sorry but we have to deal with this. Later is too late.

Ford’s Bill 5, helping his donors... again. Overturning the environmental assessment for a landfill that threatens drinking water is just his style. Oh, and helps his generous donors.

There are tragic consequences when we fail to act on #ClimateChange. Ford is not just failing to act, he is undermining action.
I’m safe, but so many of my friends’ homes and cottages are at risk and some of the most beautiful areas in Manitoba are burning. While fire is a natural part of the boreal forest, these are very large and intense and threaten so much. Rain is coming, but not fast enough.
