I’ve been thinking about this for years now, but always thought that it wouldn’t achieve anything because of our ridiculous FPTP electoral system. Like a lot of others (now over 110,000 members!) I’ve arrived at the decision that this is the best hope we have for a fairer and more radical future
In the corporate world though I was in a technical role I had mandatory annual training on topics that were potentially share price affecting and could have result in prison sentences or huge fines:
Anti-competition law
Anti-bribery law

I’m sure there’s a reason people don’t want to go to the USA right now, but I just can’t put my finger on it

Are all the people complaining about Mandelson still having a peerage as upset about Michelle Mone?

Listening to the rambling old fool Trump speaking at Davos, and it’s clearly time for an intervention. If this was a family member I’d be looking to find a secure and comfortable place for them to stay.

This illustrates perfectly why it’s not possible to negotiate with Trump. There is no consistency and he never acts in good faith.
Handing over Greenland would not be the end of his demands.

So what happens if Europe hands over Greenland to the bully? Anyone can see that he’ll be back demanding something else. It’s not possible to reach any kind of agreement with a person like this.

BBC News reporting Shabana Mahmood’s post on X related to the AI misinformed West Midlands Chief Constable resignation is pretty much a perfect circle of everything wrong with UK politics and media

Katie Razzall presenting Julian Barnes with an AI generated paragraph that was supposedly in his style was cringeworthy and disrespectful clickbait journalism. Please BBC, be better than this.

I’m not going to mention the 10 year anniversary of the passing of David Bowie at home today, because I never saw him live but Mrs W did and will talk about it interminably at the drop of a hat.

This sums up our supine government. Too scared of Trump/Musk to do anything and delegating responsibility. Time to start LEADING rather than hand wringing
NEW: Liz Kendall, the technology secretary, says Ofcom would have the "full backing" of government if it opted to block access to X in the UK (but it's a decision for Ofcom)
January 9, 2026 at 5:13 PM
Well the penny has dropped for some Labour MPs. I wonder when Starmer will stop pretending X is not an issue because he’s terrified of Trump
“Well, that’s fine then! As long as people only pay for illegal sexually explicit AI images of real people via Grok on X: all perfectly acceptable, right?” What a relief. Nothing to see here. 🙄

Apparently this is what ‘responsibility’ looks like now.

It comes after government urged Ofcom to use all its powers – up to and including an effective ban – against X.
