Perhaps tonight is a good time to remember that about 19% of NHS staff in England are non-British nationals. They are some of the most hardworking & caring members of our society. They look after our sick & vulnerable & during the pandemic risked their lives to keep us safe

As the winter kicks in and Storm Bert hits and we hear stories of pensioners cutting food or heat, remember their fuel benefit cut was a conscious decision in full knowledge of the harm it will do.
Government admits that 50,000 to 100,000 more pensioners will be in relative or absolute poverty as a result of means-testing the winter fuel payment and it knew that at the time of the decision bit.ly/48YogL2 It has taken nearly four months to admit it. Table below

King Charles inherited £650m tax free, gets £125m a year tax free from the tax payer and has an estate worth £22bn that’s never taxed.

But he still needed a 45% pay rise.

Like if he needs a pay cut.

“I think the [winter fuel payment] means testing was too tight..to set it at pensioners who have annual income of less than £11,400 is too tight”

Martin Lewis says the winter fuel payment should have been extended to those pensioners with around “£20,000-25,000” annual income

The ICC’s arrest warrants are long overdue.

The Prime Minister & Foreign Secretary must immediately endorse this decision. That is the bare minimum.

Will the UK government now, finally, honour its international obligations to prevent genocide and end all arms sales to Israel?

Yesterday the House of Lords voted on water nationalisation, which is supported by 82% of the public )of all political persuasions)

Out of 827 peers, only three - @nataliegreenpeer.bsky.social, @premnsikka.bsky.social and @greenjjnews.bsky.social - voted in favour

Why are we so badly represented?

I have direct experience of that exploitation: many years ago I was desperate for money and decided to give fruit picking a go. As soon as I arrived it was clear that the conditions were unacceptable. The farmer was not expecting me to be fluent in English, because of my Italian name, and reacted…

There is a very simple reason why the UK government refuses to acknowledge the genocide in Gaza.

If they did, they would be admitting their own complicity in one of the greatest crimes of our time.

End all arms sales to Israel, now.

If you do the same to hang on to your multimillion pound inheritance tax exemption then you're a brave freedom fighter defying the odds
