Promoted by Martyn Post on behalf of Peter Underwood, 12 Johns Terrace, CR0 6TD
This is a common sense move. US-style police commissioners never made sense and was a waste of money

But this doesn’t address the key problem – underfunding local authorities to tackle the causes of crime. Fixing that would make a real difference!

Police and crime commissioners to be scrapped in England and Wales
The government says it will save £100m over this Parliament and less than 20% of voters can name their PCC.

Missing bins, along with the increase in litter and fly-tipping, are amongst the top issues raised by residents in my area

So why are so many current Councillors and the Mayor not delivering the service that residents want and deserve?

Time for a change for the better

Britain is a rainforest nation.

Britain’s PM is currently in a rainforest in Brazil.

Why isn’t he drawing the links between tropical & temperate rainforests, supporting Brazil’s fund, and setting out plans to restore Britain’s rainforests?

X doesn't just promote the far-right, it also tries to silence the alternative - this is a clear case of interfering in free speech and democracy

I know my X posts are being hidden (a shadow ban) and my account was suspended during last year's general election for no reason

I was out along Court Wood Lane this morning, next to Selsdon Woods, and I kept hearing the calls of a couple of Red Kites. I managed to get a couple of long distance photos of them. Hopefully next spring we might have a whole family of new residents in the area 😊

The changes to local government reflect Labour’s mentality – keep cutting spending and concentrate power in an ever smaller group of people

We should be making Councils more democratic and giving them the power and money to act on local people’s needs

We need to give more space to wildflowers. This isn’t just about making better use of poor-quality farming land; we can also give some of our parks and our gardens back to nature

I turned my lawn into a wildflower area and my garden is now full of life

Some parts of Croydon are amongst the most deprived in the country and the borough overall is more deprived than its neighbours but receives proportionally less funding

It’s time the Government changed the system to fund Croydon fairly

My thoughts are with people in Jamaica and the Caribbean and their friends and relatives, as we all desperately hope for their safety

Hurricane Melissa shows the destructive power of our overheated climate. We need to act now to stop it getting worse
Hurricane Melissa intensified Tuesday before making landfall in Jamaica, where officials and residents braced for catastrophic winds, flash flooding and landslides from the Category 5 storm, one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes in history.
