Just a reminder that if you say you are Anglo-Saxon then you are saying your ancestors arrived here on small boats

Why do rich people always think that the problem is the rest of us not working hard enough?

I was out along Court Wood Lane this morning, next to Selsdon Woods, and I kept hearing the calls of a couple of Red Kites. I managed to get a couple of long distance photos of them. Hopefully next spring we might have a whole family of new residents in the area 😊

Some parts of Croydon are amongst the most deprived in the country and the borough overall is more deprived than its neighbours but receives proportionally less funding

It’s time the Government changed the system to fund Croydon fairly

The @greenparty.org.uk is now the most popular party amongst voters under 50 years old

We need to keep working and growing but I believe a change is gonna come

We aren't a protest against the old parties, we are their replacement

Today is National Poetry Day

Here is a sonnet for all my fellow poets and artists (and slug fans)

The Global Sumud Flotilla is a group of peaceful civilians bringing vital food and medicine to people in Gaza - doing the job our Governments should be doing

If Israel attacks the flotilla, they are breaking international law #AllEyesOnSumud

I am a poet as well as a politician but the two worlds rarely meet directly. This one is an exception.

From every river to every sea

It was the Sanderstead Community Day this afternoon

Great to meet some old friends and plenty of new people at another one of our fantastic community events

Lovely to be out with the Selsdon litter pickers this morning (far more people than in this photo)

It's great to see so many people willing to help out in their community

Labour - they don't care about people, they only care about costs

We all deserve a fair share of the nation's wealth - that means a #WealthTax and a #UniversalBasicIncome

At a @greenparty.org.uk strategy event yesterday I was really pleased to meet one of our newest Green Councillors Marina Lademacher, who won her Ward from Labour last week

We are planning on winning a lot more, so join us and help make it happen join.greenparty.org.uk

Keir Starmer says campaigning against genocide in Palestine makes you a terrorist

Donal Trump says campaigning against fascism makes you a terrorist

Those in power are terrified of people like you and me standing up for peace and justice – lets keep them terrified

I joined tonight's meeting about The Fold with @pwea.bsky.social to support the residents

Good to see they are working with @acornunion.bsky.social and have come up with a sensible list of demands re safety, rents, and compensation

Hopefully there will be a positive response from the landlord

I felt a bit more pressure as the organiser of yesterday's Selsdon Community Fair but we had good weather and everyone had a great time 😊

In addition to all the stalls and the choir performing, we also had the official unveiling of the Rotary's new defibrillator
September 8, 2025 at 8:49 AM
The Selsdon Community Fair is next weekend

Free to enter and over 25 stalls from local groups, artists, and makers. The Scouts will be selling tea and coffee and the Rotary will be providing fun activities for the children

Looking forward to seeing you there.

If you graffiti a plane to stop people being killed in a genocide, then establishment politicians scream it’s terrorism

If you graffiti our streets to terrorise people who’ve fled a genocide, then those same politicians say nothing or support it

Guess who's back 😔

Another example of two news stories next to each other on the BBC that answer themselves

If the Government bought empty homes and brought them back into use they could provide housing for all the asylum seekers in hotels and hundreds of thousands of other people as well

Why? Reform have failed to explain why the immigration status of suspects is relevant or why they ‘need’ to know

The British justice system is based on the idea that everyone is equal before the law – if you don’t agree with that, there are other countries you can go to
