Evidence that pushback by a free press and by “we the people” can have profound and tangible effects.

I’m curious how the Coast Guard managed to make that course correction despite falling under the authority of our Secretary of Homeland “Insecurity” Noem.

However it happened, I’m relieved
The US Coast Guard issues a new, more stringent policy on hate symbols including the swastika, just hours after The Washington Post reported that the service would instead classify such symbols as “potentially divisive” under new guidelines. wapo.st/4rdDQew
In reversal, Coast Guard again classifies swastikas, nooses as hate symbols
The new order came hours after The Post reported the service would instead classify such symbols as “potentially divisive” under guidelines set for release next month.

I’m voting for the two of them to choose to not procreate.

Is this radical transparency?

Trump’s and MAGA’s betrayal of Ukraine is so utterly beyond disgusting that even in the context of their ever-present corrupt immorality and betrayal of Democracy and a stable European and International Order, I can barely process it.

That would would be excellent! He can barely get reelected in Texas. Cannot imagine a circumstance in which he could be elected POTUS by the rest of the nation. His GOP mates despise him!

But that assumes they actually let us hold election anymore (I wish I wasn’t more dubious about that that).

I’ve got no clue what Tim Kaine is thinking. I get that Virginia was disproportionately affected by the shutdown, but last week’s election couldn’t possibly have been more clear that even Virginians supported the shutdown.

Parenthetically, Chuck Schumer—my own senator—needs to be replaced!

Wow! Ken Martin taking a principled stance!

I don’t actually blame the Democratic Party for failing to defeat MAGA thus far, we, the Democrats, did not invent the evil of MAGA. We just haven’t figured out how to beat them so far it’s frustrating, but that doesn’t make it our fault.

Mindboggling! Admitting almost no refugees…AND…those we ARE admitting are overtly white, right wing racists of European descent.

It’s sick. It’s just plain sick.

So, instead of death by a thousand memes…or by endless exercises in the frustrated game of circular firing squad engendered by frustration (unfair to us and our party, as MAGA fascism is NOT our fault). Instead, we need to VOTE our faces off! The Dem Party IS fighting the good fight!

Plenty of Americans have partners and other family members who used to live under authoritarian rule in other parts of the world. Perhaps they are listening to loved ones with first hand experience.
Adding to @ryanlcooper.com and @brianbeutler.bsky.social here, JB Pritzker and Gavin Newsom have a theory of this moment. Many other Dems do not:

There is simply no moral defense for the complicity of the Oligarch and Corporate Executive class in their craven support of the MAGA Agenda and the Trump Self-Enrichment Corruption scheme. Slime. Every one of them. And a shame for their families to bear for generations to come.
Over half of the corporations bankrolling Trump’s vanity ballroom are facing (or recently faced) federal investigations into wrongdoing — including violating workers’ rights or misleading consumers.

They also have a combined $279 BILLION in federal contracts.

Follow the money.

Let them be rich as hell.

Except for their indifference to everyone else’s welfare, I don’t care. But they they can afford to actually pay their fair share of taxes, and “We the People” have the right to demand that they do.
