Frog tied some string around the box. “There,” he said. “Now we will not eat any more cookies.”

“But we can cut the string and open the box,” said Toad.

“That is true,” said Frog.

Introducing people as “Death Philosopher” and “PayPal Mafioso” is a small thing but it makes being informed so fun.
Happy Thanksgiving! I wrote something for everyone to discuss around the dinner table when the pie is passed around and everyone proposes specific measures to seize the wealth and break the anti-democratic power of the tech oligarchy.

OverPower & Philly? Hell yeah!

Fun fact! I lived in Philly back in the day when I helped launch this game and the Marvel office for the trading card group was based just outside of Philly. Will the winners climb light posts and flips cars after the event? Who can say! 🤞🏻 #GoBirds

Can't endorse this idea enough. I was also going to shout out the comic book industry for getting it right a long time ago and crediting Editors as part of the creative team (which Spencer mentions as well in his replies).
Yes; and I want to make a different point.

Editors *shouldn’t* be invisible. They should have bylines. YOU DESERVE to know who shapes the stories you read. Editors do that no less than writers/reporters do. Very often, they’re the ones who assigned the piece, not the writer, and who headlines it.
Editors have a really hard job, and the good ones can make something unreadable readable, and the great ones can make something unreadable into something good. But they're basically invisible, until someone tries to write without one.

It’s pretty clear that the Democrats waited until after the election to cave. Which means they know they’re caving. It’s a massive betrayal of the people they claim to represent AND some of their own colleagues.

Pretty sure if Chuck Schumer and the Democrats cave on this now, after winning nothing, they’ll lose an entire generation of voters that will see them as uncaring and incompetent. There will be no opposition party. Just a long coalition building movement from the outside to recover from fascism.

Today is Day 38 of the Republican shutdown. Your regular reminders:

1. Republicans control the White House, Senate and House.

2. GOP making deep cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and ACA.

3. Democrats are fighting to lower costs, cancel the cuts and save healthcare for Americans.

If the political opposition doesn’t put these ICE & CBP institutional criminals in prison, annihilate their budgets, purge the datasets and repeal their authorities, this will keep happening. And that opposition will reveal itself as a false, controlled opposition that is no less predatory on people

This guy is out there in his leather helmet lecturing everyone on how to play football.
SCOOP: Schumer was more involved than reported with the attempted cave on the government shutdown. The Gang of 8 Senate Dems had his approval & he was getting daily updates.
In Thursday's caucus meeting, the Gang claimed they had 10 votes to cave. The caucus went nuts, leading to the new proposal.

I really love this Vincent Van Gogh quote:

"To do good work one must eat well, be well housed, have one's fling from time to time, smoke one's pipe, and drink one's coffee in peace."

No romanticizing the starving artist. Van Gogh said UBI all the way.
