The Peace Talks project aims to promote World Peace by recording the various addresses and speeches delivered at the many International Peace Congresses and Conferences of the 1800s and early 1900s.
These words, never heard by anyone alive today, may still inspire us to build a better world.
After a small technical hiccup that delayed its launch, the YouTube Channel of The Peace Talks Project is finally coming online next week.
Because the cause of peace needs every voice behind it.

Here is a quote from the historical speech of Victor Hugo that will be featured in the first video.

What is happening in the USA made me think of those powerful words by G'Kar in Babylon 5 S2E20 'The long twilight struggle'.

The first part of this clip shows two of the results of war: surrender and resistance. The second part shows the path to peace.

Destroying is easy. 1 person can do huge damage. Its power is an illusion. It isolates you, doesn't feed your soul and you always need more. It's the Dark Side of the Force.

True power comes for working together. It's harder. It needs constant work, but its rewards are limitless and shared by all.

Nothing is simpler than truth.
If an action is divisive, it shouldn't be followed, no matter how convinced or passionate one is about it.
If it leads to more unity, it should be, even if it comes at a cost.
Sounds simplistic, naive even, but that simple binary compass is the key to a better world.

Peace will never be built by people throwing dirt at each other across a great divide, each enclosed in their own bubble. Hard as it may be, and as justified as anger and resistance to tyranny are, and they are, it is vital that we keep the bridges of communication open, or all hope is lost.

Violence should only ever be used to defend yourself and your loved ones, only as little as is needed and only for as long as is needed but, as much as I am against violence, this is where it has its place.
The same goes with anger and here, Mandy Patinkin has every right to be fuming.
Mandy Patinkin on Gaza: "How Could It Be Done To Your Ancestors, And Then You Turn Around And Do It To Someone Else?"
Actor Mandy Patinkin offered his perspective on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict during an appearance on the New York Times "Interview" podcast: MANDY PATINKIN: I was in Philadelphia getting ready to do a concert with Patty, my dear friend Patty Leone. And I go up to the hotel room. Katherine was in the hotel room, and the movie The Princess Bride was on. She was watching it, and just as I walked into the room, it was that final scene in the movie where Inigo is sitting by the window with the Man in Black. And the Man in Black asks Inigo, "Would he like to be the next Dread Pirate Roberts?" And the Inigo Montoya actor--who was me, at 36 years old--said these words, which I did not really know what they meant, that William Goldman wrote, which I think are the singular greatest words I've ever read. And those words are, were, and always will be: "You know, I have been in the revenge business so long, now that it's over, I do not know what to do with the rest of my life." And I ask Jews all over the world to consider what this man, Benjamin Netanyahu, and his right-wing government is doing to the Jewish people all over the world. They are endangering not only the State of Israel--which I care deeply about and want to exist--but they are endangering the Jewish population all over the world. He is the most dangerous thing, not just since October 7th. It has been a deeply troubled situation, and he is endangering the Jews by endangering those in Gaza. And to watch what is happening--for the Jewish people to allow this to happen to children and civilians of all ages in Gaza, for whatever reason--is unconscionable and unthinkable. And I ask you, Jews everywhere, all over the world, to spend some time alone and think: is this acceptable and sustainable? How could it be done to you and your ancestors, and then you turn around and do it to someone else? Here's the full interview:

Today, on Bastille Day, I want to honour the courage of the many American citizens who stand firm every day in the face of the wave of oppression from an extremely weak leader.
Stand strong!
I offer you these similar quotes from two famous men, one French and the other American, a fitting pairing.

We must never lose hope that world peace is achievable and we must always strive to make it happen.
I know that, with everything happening in the world today, we can be tempted to think that such a peace is a pipe dream. That feeling is perfectly normal but it should not be final.

Peace can only come from a balanced mind, not an erratic one.
I know there is much to be angry at it the world, and it definitely needs dealing with, but in between two bouts of indignation, we need to let the light in or we'll drive ourselves mad and our efforts will be for nothing.

The world is a complex ecosystem where everything is interconnected and the path to peace follows many roads. Some of these are for entire nations to walk, some are for individuals, and so, peace between nations is dependent on men and women standing together as equals, each made stronger for it.

Some people wash their hands of politics, thinking all candidates are ususally as bad as each other and voting doesn't make any difference.
While it may sometimes be true, this is not one of those times. If you know such a person, now is the time to slowly but surely change their mind.

As a Frenchman, and like General Lafayette before me as he fought for American independence with George Washington, and as Gustave Eiffel, of the Eiffel Tower, and Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, who both built the Statue of Liberty, I stand with my American brothers and sisters against Trump's tyranny

This is what Peace looks like. Two countries at war for most of their history, now true friends. It takes vision and maturity to outgrow hatred and the prejudices of the past.
Those who subdue their own people or think they need a gun to create peace have yet to learn this lesson.

Peace in the world starts with peace within us. Sometimes, it comes from expecting accountability and seeking justice. Like most things, this has an outward and inward aspect. Outwardly, it's only fair that it happens. Inwardly, well, in this case, it's not for me to say.
Please, support Kaitlin.

Due to technical issues (sound quality), I have taken down my first YouTube video of The PEACE TALKS Project.
I will re-record it next week once I have my new mike.
Call me perfectionist, but I don't want viewers to be scared off the channel and never come back just because of bad sound.

The YouTube Channel of The Peace Talks Project is live and the first video is up!
Please, help us support World Peace by subscribing and speading the word if you can. Thank you!
