Andy Burnham is the face of bus franchising in England, are Scottish Labour following his lead or do they support the NEC decision to block his candidacy?

Just mental that you're completely ignoring franchising when SPT are currently developing it for Strathclyde and they need funding commitments. You're not serious about transforming Scotland if you refuse to discuss one of the biggest levers for transformation we have available.

It's past time we put this failed deregulation experiment to bed. It hasn't improved services or driven down fares. We're held to ransom and forced to pay these exorbitant fares. SPT are blazing a trail, ScotGov needs to recognise this is vital and support them in the budget next week.
Today First Glasgow put single fares up to a whopping £3.25, leaving us with some of the most expensive buses in the UK 💸

How can ScotGov allow this blatantly unfair situation to persist? 😤

𝗪𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 by supporting SPT’s plans to take our buses back into public control 💷

'Found a cure yet?' as a cancer researcher. There are many and varied types of cancer that there will always be new treatments but never a catch-all cure sadly.

Also no, I haven't found a treatment either - it's really fuckin hard.
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

"Depending on the way it is implemented, and there can be a large amount of local government control in the exact rates, it could potentially raise between £50 million and £800 million a year using rough salary estimates. Ka-ching."
November 12, 2025 at 3:27 PM
November 12, 2025 at 3:27 PM
"This breeds an implicit understanding that where a company chooses to base itself has an impact on the locality and its workers and employers cannot outsource transport costs to the individual"
November 12, 2025 at 3:27 PM
"If a company employs 20 people and pays them a combined total of £1m then they could pay between £5.5k – £29.5k in transport tax depending on where they are based."
November 12, 2025 at 3:27 PM
"It provides a stable source of income to the local transport authority to allow them to plan long term investment in the network, rolling stock and staff. It means the local transport authority does not need to go cap in hand to the government asking them to reinstate certain funding streams"
November 12, 2025 at 3:27 PM
"This one goes by a few different names: versement mobilité in France, public transportation levy in Vienna, or simply payroll tax in the USA. This is a tax levied on employers in the region which is paid directly to the regional transport authority."

When all beliefs are protected then no beliefs are protected. How does deliberately insulting all Muslims count as a belief when BEING A MUSLIM is a protected characteristic? These two things cannot both be true at once...
This is how transphobia's right wing fuckery blew open basic respect in the UK, there is absolutely no reason to expect now that being "women critical" is not also a protected belief, if you truly do not believe that women should just be reproductive slaves for cis men.

This will be used to abuse.
