Hear, hear Carla Denyer!
Green MP Carla Denyer accuses Shabana Mahmood of trying to "out Reform Reform" and says "toxic racist narratives and the scapegoating of migrants" are to blame for "tearing our country apart" not migrants.

Mahmood: "I couldn't care less what any other political party has to say about these matters"

I have nothing but respect for those Labour (and Co-op) MPs who have the courage to condemn their government’s cruel, draconian and counterproductive reforms to immigration and asylum.

These reforms must be opposed!

You don’t defeat the hard right by enacting hard right policies, it’s that simple!
Plans to leave refugees in a state of perpetual uncertainty about where and if they can rebuild their lives are not just performative cruelty, they are counterproductive to integration and the economy. It doesn’t have to be like this - 1/2

It's becoming increasingly difficult to tell the difference between Labour and Reform UK, especially on immigration and asylum.

For the far-right to advance, cruelty and inhumanity need to become normalised.

That is what Labour is doing with it's draconian immigration reforms. Shame on them! 🥀🥀🥀

Exactly. Why are Labour ministers enabling and legitimising these “dark forces”.
So the solution is… to join in?

I'm afraid the “dark forces” are calling from inside the house at this point.

The government should be ashamed that its migration policies are being cheered on by Tommy Robinson and Reform.

Instead of standing up to anti-migrant hate, this is laying the foundations for the far-right.

I questioned the Home Secretary on how she can be proposing such obviously cruel policies.

Regardless of whether it’s Labour in the UK or the CDU in Germany, the more you move to the right on immigration, the more you legitimise the nationalist right and the stronger they get.

The only way to defeat nationalists is to oppose their policies and to improve living standards across society!
I see the CDU's rightwards shift on migration has helped them see of the threat of the AFD...
Germany, GMS poll:

AfD-ESN: 26% (+1)
CDU/CSU-EPP: 25% (-1)
SPD-S&D: 14% (-1)
GRÜNE-G/EFA: 12% (+1)
LINKE-LEFT: 11% (+1)
FDP-RE: 3%
BSW-NI: 3%

2/2 What does it say about Ministers as human beings that they would even consider inflicting such arbitrariness, such cruelty on people who have legitimate reasons to seek refuge? How is that compatible with Social Democracy, Socialism, or basic decency?

1/2 Imagine being granted asylum (after all the checks, all the interviewing, all the waiting) only to discover that for the rest of your life sudden deportation hangs over you. At any moment you could be uprooted & expelled. You can be nothing other than a faux citizen, your status a forbearance.

Shabana Mahmood is an absolute disgrace! Blue Labour are an abomination. Red Reform would be a better name for them.

This approach will do little to stop the rise of the Reform party, while Labour will continue to lose votes to the Greens and the Lib Dems. 🥀🥀🥀
