Today in my family we pay tribute to my grand uncle Michael O Connell who perished on 3rd November 1940. He was aboard The Laurentic a merchant ship which was hit by a German torpedo while going to the aid of SS Casanare off the coast of Donegal

Wonderful to be in the National Rowing Centre for the Irish Rowing Championships and to celebrate 50 years since the first Irish women’s team competed at the World Rowing Championships.
That is just a lovely idea. I must say I loved the pianist playing at St Pancras London this week at 4.30am. He cheered up the bleary eyed travellers to #Paris no end.
In Stavanger airport and they have birdsong serenading you in the bathrooms, with an ID chart of the local birds.
What a lovely, simple idea to connect people with the wildlife around them.
