English is such a cursed language.

Do you put a meeting invite on a calendars, schedules, or diary?

Fries = chips, chips = crisps.

And of course optimization and optimisation, without going into how spoken emphasis is contextual.

Reading a book. Visited the town of Reading.

Aaand 30% goes to knowledge base articles?

Honestly this distribution is so interesting.

Really goes back to the core question - what are website boundaries and how do you define something whose definition evolves over time?

How big is the web?

Happy Friday brain.

Someone write a book on how a Greenpeace adjacent organization engages in bioterrorism where genetically engineered ants are set loose to thrive in any climate can trigger alpha gal syndrome on its bite victims.

Thus converting the world off of our meat-based diet.

For every human there's a million fucking ants.

There's your AI horror movie right there.

Man I missed the days where retailers weren't trying to digitize.

Now everyone's doing ecommerce, and everyone's ecommerce experienced is peppered with ads.

Ads are answers.

Sometimes you work in a country for so long, that you gain a new accent on your mother tongue. ...

And you have to work your way back to sound "normal" again to fit in because your intonation and emphasis decided to take a few sips of helium.

It's another slow week in AI, so I figured I'd talk about ChatGPT's --QDF= operator and what the scores 0-5 mean. If you're new here, when I feel the AGI coming, I share tidbits of AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) discoveries in a way only a subsection of the internet would understand*.

Conspiracy Theory

OpenAI is using Atlas as a URL discovery mechanism, collecting data directly from users. They do not have to spend compute to render pages as the user does that for them. They want to build a web index based on user data, not crawling, as a moat.

One of our neighbors decided to leave trashed furniture in our sidewalk.

And now I can't work. Who done it? Why am I not just as angry?

Well, my love, you sucked out my energy reserves.

Some kids are dialed in on excellence in focus.

Pretty weird when you have a child who just hit the "relative" 10% mark, but aren't focused b/c girl's got options:

She's in an academy football club.

Her club is struggling in their division.

She is an average player, no extra practice or edge.

Was talking to my Italian and Italian-American neighbors this weekend, because I was also playing Minecraft IT support for a kids' playdate

They're quite far removed from the AI world - ChatGPT is basically AI magic. They're currently using it to answer home DIY issues.

I touched grass that day?

As a parent, I get to look at my child's search history.

Every year children are adding to that shift in query data from head terms to long tail. I know I have a 1% child. She's furiously using Google Search, Learn About, or ChatGPT. Hell she's got a Reddit and Quora account. It's fascinating.

They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. As a marketer, I don’t enjoy getting gaslighted when I do the same actions, but different results. This is where data fidelity comes in.

Demand better. Sweat the details.

One of my favorite trivia about system prompts in OpenAI is that an example of sensitive but not explicitly identifying they can store is "User is an international student from Taiwan"

I feel seen-ish.

Today's frontier LLM research is not about building animals. It is about summoning ghosts.

Man that hit different. It especially does when you think about a particular Black Mirror episode.

Google won over schools with Chromium.

So... ChatGPT Atlas being hyped up by their Education team... means... they're going after students?

That will be interesting if true.
October 21, 2025 at 9:24 PM
Somewhere in the range of 10~20% of EU MAU also use LLMs wouldn't be too crazy. There's overlap.

It does make you question how good they are at bot-detection and deduping accounts.

ChatGPT search has 41 million average monthly users in EU
While ChatGPT Search grew from 11.2 million to 41.3 million "recipients," it is still dwarfed by Google Search.

Shared while my mind is thinking about ChatGPT Atlas and "assistants" in general.
