Palmer’s has been a West Bank institution since 1906, a community center with a kick, a place that wears its history proudly. Everyone is welcome here

Gig Bait 48-hr hit parade
4—David Huckfelt, Cedar, 8 p.m. 11/1
Sneak preview of Huckfelt’s 1st solo album in more than 4 years, backed by the Unarmed Forces trio + inevitable special guests. The Pines properly put Huckfelt on the map; his soulful, literate wordplay makes him an heir to Greg Brown.

So long, Palmer’s. What a perfectly fun, familial and a wee bit chaotic ending.

Played dozens of shows at Palmer’s over the last 25 years, and last night was probably the most unique and insane nights I’ve been a part of. Really fun to be included. Sad to see it go, of course, but we’ll keep tilling the earth…I guess this was the only photo I took. Enjoy the basement view.

“And we watched time go by
Well I told her ask me anything
She asked me how to cry
And when I think of you I know forever I will be
Happy as the fool because together we are free.
