COLD LAKE - Obstetrical services are "temporarily" unavailable in Cold Lake, due to a OB/GYN shortage at the Cold Lake Healthcare Centre. This shortage will be ongoing until Jan. 5, 2026.

AHS is the official punching bad and fall guy now.

It has been completely gutted and will have no ability to afford change.

New ACA CEO and Minister Jones should both personally speak to how they are working to decrease Access Block like this… and admit it will be worse in coming months.
Thank you for being clear on where the responsibility for this child’s life lies, which is the Minister for ACA. The UCP govt’s “restructuring and refocusing” has stripped AHS of any authority to improve patient care or to provide any care at all. AHS will be a hospital service provider, that’s it.

Premier Smith keeps trying to pin this on AHS—a go-to scapegoat for Alberta governments—despite the provincial health agency being subject to the direction of her own Health Minister, as per their mandate.

The considerable limitations on Judge Wyant's investigation only underscore's what FOM & many others have said for months: Albertans deserve a fully empowered public inquiry to get to the bottom of these very concerning allegations.
