To Denmark and Greenland: 100 Danish forces deployed to Desert Storm. They stood with us defending sovereignty and international law. Now I watch Stephen Miller mock you on TV while my government threatens to invade Greenland. I'm a veteran and I'm ashamed beyond words. I'm so sorry.

Enchanting video (& soundtrack!) of a capybara swimming along an underwater sandy-gravelly bottom that also shows unusually long distances between its footfalls. If preserved in the fossil record, this trackway might be interpreted as "very fast running" instead of "leisurely swimming." 🧪🐾
I need a mood booster, let's talk about capybaras.

Here's a capy demonstrating one of MANY ways they can move through the water: running along the bottom.

They're 'semi-aquatic' mammals, just like hippos, seals & beavers. They LOVE water.

Love to make WAVP, but lots of new dinosaurs to describe over the off-season.... @utahpaleo-ufop.bsky.social @paleontologizing.bsky.social @jeremybroberts.bsky.social
The Western Association of Vertebrate Paleontologists meetings are a fantastic venue for researchers across the spectrum, including students and early career researchers. And the Raymond Alf Museum is a great venue with an amazing team of dedicated paleontologists. Come give a talk! 🦖🧪
Hey paleontologists! The Alf Museum is hosting WAVP (Western Association of Vertebrate Paleontology) next month. (should have abstract submission details pretty quick). Details here: www.wavp.us

Exploring the Feasibility of a Regional Earthquake Early Warning System in Utah #BSSA⚒️

Utah’s existing seismic network is at the desired density along the Wasatch fault zone, and needs to be upgraded to be operational for earthquake early warning.

New paper alert! 🚨 🐌

We studied historic Antarctic fossils from the Zinsmeister Collection to assess whether the K-Pg extinction, as recorded on Seymour Island, was sudden or gradual. We found that benthic life thrived in the 4 million years before the K-Pg.
