Anne Lister didn't think much of this tower at Chatsworth, Derbyshire - it "put us in mind of warehousing" when she visited with Ann Walker in 1835 (it had been erected since her visit there with Mrs Lawton in 1825).

#AnneLister died #OTD in 1840 during her trip in Georgia with #AnnWalker. She was 49 years old.

Anne Lister died on this day, 22nd September, in 1840. Today, 185 years later, we are carrying out repairs on the church where her partner, Ann Walker, is buried.
