oh wow! blast from the past!! for a customer's customer had to use it to integrate an intranet to a service desk solution of a major enterprise vendor. Get this, the final artifact was not a jar or war or ear but a DCOM dll that was deployable in IIS
Dig the past, find surprises. 👀

So one of the things that I think is lost on AI proponents is what I call the card catalog effect, a thing I shouldn’t call it because a lot of people probably have no experience with a card catalog.

Quick TIL: if you have uv installed and you want to try out ANY Python package in an ipython REPL, you can do so just by running

uvx --with llm --with sqlite-utils ipython

Pass as many --with package options as you like

I wrapped it in a shell script, "itry llm"

Trying out Python packages with ipython and uvx
I figured out a really simple pattern for experimenting with new Python packages today:

as that saying goes don't put all the bananas in the same bucket? 😜
Large scale distributed systems are hard. They will go down.

Teams need disaster response scenarios, so if GitHub is still down, they can still deploy, even if it's manual.

Mirror git locally. Or to gitlab. I worked in a place that didn't care if us-east-1 died, so did their customers. :-(

Everything is broken all the time. Printers refuse to print, operating systems refuse to coninue working (Windows 10 machine just said out of support plan pop up when launching the machine, is a quite powerful laptop and yet can't run windows 11, will have to convert to ubuntu).

Yes! Spent the last 2 days trying to book flights online (this has got HARDER since last time I did it 2 weeks ago); book seats on a plane; update my laptop; write something in my IDE (license needed updating and then the app as well); and so on. And these were days where I didn't have to do much.

Very interesting approach. In one of my previous jobs we had an organization that built these generic pipelines but they were not flexible enough. Gitlab offers CI/CD catalog but at the end YAML is not a programming language. Something worth exploring is Dagger
A golden CI/CD pipeline is the list of actions that every piece of software must take to move a new code to production.

Today I share with you what a CI/CD pipeline should look like and how to make it generic.

is there anything like ohmyzsh or similar for Windows Powershell ? particularly looking for command history between different sessions. even using the new terminal app that replaces the old command prompt feels so 2000 or older.
