Orgulho do meu Brasil hoje. Um país que quarenta anos atrás se livrou do regime militar hoje pode dizer que mandou militares golpistas para a prisão. Assim o Brasil dá um exemplo para o mundo inteiro: o lugar certo para golpista e autoritário é no presídio.

Today is St. Cecilia's Day, honoring music and musicians, which inspired composers over the ages to write music extolling, well, music itself. Here is a performance of the best known movement from Henry Purcell's first Ode to St. Cecilia first performed on November 22nd in 1683.

As with anything else that would make sense in this country, this would face massive obstacles. But imagine a country in which one could ride without fear of loss of life or limb.

It's hard not to notice how little coverage in US media there is of the violence perpetrated on the West Bank's civilian population. Gift opinion piece in The New York Times, ironically one of those papers that hardly reports on this crisis.

Chuck Schumer doing what he does best: folding to Trump’s authoritarian regime and failing the American people. You’d think after last week, he’d understand the moment we’re in and the leverage he has. He must be replaced as leader immediately, and the out-of-touch corporate old guard needs to go.

Mamdani's remarks about NYC being a city of immigrants, built by immigrants, and now led by an immigrant certainly struck a chord with me, an immigrant. We're Americans by choice and we love our country fiercely and will defend it from home-grown despots.
