I think a similar thing to @noamchompers.bsky.social: that people tend to think that if the vehicles that produce scientific understanding are *false* (idealising, abstracting, distorting) then scientific understanding must (or can be) non-factive.
what's the thing in your subdiscipline that loads of people constantly mess up even though by your lights they really ought to know better? (for me it's clearly distinguishing contents and vehicles)
