(1) Dette er ikke på langt nær normalen i England («education» prioriteres ikke over alt) og (2) det er helt utrolig at noen ser på engelsk barneskole og videregående og kan tenke seg at det er en god idé å imitere dem.

Lovely talk by @phaueis.bsky.social today on pluralism and conceptual progress! Cannot wait for the forthcoming book after this glimpse at its contents.

Inspiring talk by @annaalexandrova.bsky.social on the philosophy of Nancy Cartwright today! Very much enjoyed the picture of Cartwright to match her penchant for “short and stocky” arguments.

It’s so worth going to Hever Castle to see their display of the book in the Holbein painting, very recently discovered in Trinity College’s collections: www.cam.ac.uk/research/new...

Nicholas Rescher’s Methodological Pragmatism was one of my surprise favourite reads of 2024. As most people, I was always overwhelmed by Rescher’s output, so I never found the right place to start until finding this book.

I'm sad to (yet again) miss #PSA24, but this time I will be there in spirit: @philgoretrout (Phillip Hintikka Kieval) will give a talk based on joint work, on Friday at 3:45pm in the AI as method session. A draft of the paper can be found here: philpapers.org/rec/KIEDLA

I’ve been reading Mach, Musil, and von Wright separately — until now! This feels like such a funny coming together of some of my recent obsessions.

Hardback copy of thesis submitted and graduation scheduled later this week means the PhD in History and Philosophy of Science is officially over! Next, I’ll be a postdoc at the University of Iceland, extending my work to social epistemology, scientific expertise, and scientific progress.
