I really cannot understate how important it is for Mil and NatSec folks to be reading Bridge Colby’s book right now, if only for the purpose of knowing what exactly to disagree with.

DHS has acquired paramilitary capabilities and authorities without the same institutional standards and limitations of the DoD and DoJ. You cannot convince me that this is healthy for the Constitutional order.

This is Woleai. It’s an island in the Federated States of Micronesia with a population of just over 1,000 and land area of less than 2 sq miles. The highest point is just 7 feet above sea level. Yet, this tiny island is the future of US-PRC competition in the Pacific.

My current role violently oscillates between the single most frustrating experience I’ve ever had, largely in terms of dealing with my peers, and the most rewarding experience I’ve ever had, largely because I love working with soldiers. Trying to hunt the good stuff.

There’s a key difference between understanding war and warfare and being a warmonger, and unfortunately that’s not a difference that a lot of folks who get into politics want to understand nor is it something instilled in the schoolhouses for foreign policy.

I was laid off this morning from USFWS as part of the sweeping DOGE cuts to probationary employees across the Dept. of Interior. To say I'm devastated doesn't even scratch the surface-I'm losing my dream job working with pallid sturgeon on the Missouri River. Solidarity with all my fed workers. 💔🐟
