About a year ago I started working on an idea.

I had just finished reading "Atomic Habits" by James Clear, and was taken with the idea that small daily choices add up to substantial change over time.

Eventually it bumped into all the agile product development stuff I learned in my corporate years.

This will be my thread for thoughts while reading Disabling Intelligences by @fractalecho.bsky.social this week.

I'm all wrapped up in a fleece blanket, I have my highlighter and page flags, and on page 2 I'm already love their writing style.

This video is all over the place and needed a good editor to make it coherent, but it is a good analysis (I spot-checked) of the many problems with the administration's Tylenol = Autism (and probably the ultimate Vaccines = Autism) "argument."

It's what you get when stupid people pretend to think.

It's okay to be "Bad at Life." It's okay if you never learn how to be.

The important thing is that you embrace it and get help with the things your brain doesn't handle well.

Perhaps a friend is good at the things you are bad at. Perhaps they are bad at things you are good at.

Happy Halloween.

Let's talk about the scariest thing in your career: the fear that stops you from starting.

Not spooky ghosts. The real fear that causes procrastination.

In my experience, this breaks down into two types: Intimidation & Discouragement

Update on the job front! A colleague did a big broadcast to her email list, and now I have meetings this week with a community advertising magazine publisher, a national HVAC marketing coordinator, and (potentially) a public speaking coach.

Weekly reminder that I am looking for work!

In the corporate sphere I do Customer Success and Enablement, but everywhere else I am essentially a Business Border Collie.

If you have things that need doing which you are too busy to get done (or just hate doing) then I may be your huckleberry.

Decades worth of speculative fiction plots have aliens that abduct / study / befriend humans in an effort to improve their own society which is threatened / dying because they lack the emotion / creativity / passion our brains have that makes us unique.

Turns out we didn't need aliens.

The worst part of all of this is that the emotional hollowing-out of people is exactly the intent of the people behind GenAI.

A populace unable to think for itself is easy to manipulate and exploit.

Defending the sovereignty of your mind is no longer just a good idea, it is part of the resistance.

It's been 2.5 years now since I was laid off from my 18.5+ year job in corporate.

After spending 8+ months trying to find corporate work and getting crickets, I decided to try launching a solo career. It had a lot of bright spots and promising glimmers, until November 2024 and beyond.

From that same trip: Zeena and Gypsy both enjoyed foraging for blackberries along the trail in the woodlands. Tonttu has yet to learn this skill.

Every day gives us the opportunity to take a step towards where we want to be tomorrow.

As any hiker will tell you, big steps cover a lot of ground quickly, but wear you out. Seasoned hikers know it's a lot more sustainable to take little steps and enjoy the scenery.

Enjoy the path to your goals.

Agile Life Design is ultimately a procrastination fighting toolkit.

The strategy and execution system prevents indecisiveness, perfectionism, and overwhelm.

The gamification layer spurs motivation and encourages rest and recovery.

Whether your thing is big or small, ALD can help you do it.

Once I left corporate, it took me a long time to figure out who I really was and who I really wanted to be.

I've always been a border collie and good at herding things, but the fact that I only liked doing it for the purpose of helping individuals was a surprising revelation.

I've always been good at coming up with ideas, but the squirrel I have in place of a brain has never been any good at making them a reality.

- I balk at the enormity of the task and how to even start
- Or I spend months learning how to start but never actually put any of it into practice (1/3)
