Once you have called disabled people a burden, you have facilitated the devaluation, dehumanization and death of disabled people.

Incredibly important article by @juliametraux.bsky.social: Reproductive autonomy is a disability justice and reproductive justice issue
"Through a reproductive justice lens—which demands attention to the social, political, and economic conditions that shape reproductive decision-making—we can better understand why abortion access is fundamentally a disability rights issue." www.americanbar.org/groups/crsj/...
Dobbs, Disability, and the Assault on Reproductive Autonomy
The Dobbs decision compounds historical reproductive injustices against disabled people, connecting modern abortion restrictions to the eugenic legacy of Buck v. Bell.

Their jobs vanished. These historians want to ensure their stories don’t.
An oral history project aims to document the stories of the federal workforce cuts. The project is open to all feds and contractors — even DOGE and Musk.

It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Jonathan Sterne, an extraordinary scholar whose groundbreaking work transformed the fields of sound studies, media theory, and the cultural study of technology.

It is with great sadness that I learned that Devva Kasnitz has past away. She was a disability champion and anthropologist extraordinaire. Devva, you were the first disabled anthropologist I had ever met (aside from myself) and a true friend and role model. I will miss you more than you can know.

I'm feeling heartbroken this morning after waking to the news that the brilliant Jonathan Sterne has passed. Even knowing he was sick, this is way too soon. We worked together on www.dukeupress.edu/the-audible-... a genius rethinking of what sound is & on the MP3 book. Field makers. A huge loss. RIP

Not only that, but I subscribe to the idea that we're disabled not due to anything we did or how we are, but because of a world that was built only with the able-bodied in mind.

I think the able-bodied hate the word "disabled" because it's a reminder that they built an ableist world.

Thank you to @erindurban.bsky.social for this excellent starter pack of scholars & practitioners in disability anthropology and/or who are using ethnographic approaches to critical disability studies! #DisabilityAnthropology #CriticalDisabilityStudies
I’m sure there are more folks out there who I haven’t connected with yet in disability anthropology or who use ethnographic approaches to critical disability studies. Send me a note if you’d like to be added! ❤️

The new HIGHLY INVASIVE ad monitoring & selling framework is now live in Google Chrome & it's ON by default, so you MUST EXPLICITLY OPT OUT. We all know this is bad, but here's how to do it:

Settings>Privacy & Security>Ad Privacy, disable all 3 options: Ad Topics, Site-suggested Ads, Ad Measurement
