Social media is turning us into impatient monsters.

People of Canada and the world must endeavour to be unafraid of nuance, not equate disagreement with disrespect, and understand that challenge can be an expression of care, not combat.
Relax!

Christmas morning in Shawnigan Lake BC.
Cool but no rain or snow.
Most of all, we have peace, so we count ourselves lucky.

All the best to you. I hope that the coming year will see improvement every day of 2026.

I once had a business often frequented by gang members, making my other customers uncomfortable, sometimes challenging.
I politely asked the gang not to wear their colours when they came.
They complied, and everything calmed down.

Take from that what you will.

I spoke to one Canadian who went to the US because she has a holiday home there and b/c her head office is there.

It is nearly impossible for some to avoid going to the US for many reasons, so I don't fault them for it.

I only have reasons not to go.

The collateral damage from Trumps policies hurt people who have nothing to do with those policies.
Canadians are sick of the Trump Mafia and cannot morally support the US. I expect visits will rebound after Trump has left the building.

To all the whiners and complainers out there, learn which level of government is responsible for your discomfort.

Maybe the responsibility is yours; the government is not your mother. In fact, maybe it wasn't even your mother's responsibility.

Take a serious inward look in the New Year!

If you have an interest in global financial trends, facts or speculation, this video presents some interesting ideas.

If I had a stash of US dollars right now, I would be considering converting them to Canadian currency while the price is advantageous.

The Republican/Conservative “pull yourself up by the bootstraps” message is an admission that they can do nothing for you and that you are on your own.

In both the US and Canada, the right-wing political parties' financial management creates more debt and discomfort for people.

The Reality TV Show that is the US sees Trump talk about neuroses, selecting chairs and his wife’s underwear drawer in his address to the nation.
Surely the American population must be ready to replace him and his entire clown show.
Too bad he still has 3 years of destruction left in him.

On floor crossing by MPs.
Canadians do not elect governments — they elect individual MPs. And it is those MPs who then decide who gets to govern.

If I were a Conservative MP at the moment, I would be crossing the floor because that is where the competent leadership is!

I'm not knocking Proportional Representation but, I have voted many times and not had my candidate win. That will happen with PR also.

The important part is participating, not just winning!
A Liberal in rural Alberta or a Conservative in downtown Toronto can vote for decades without ever electing a candidate they support.

A system that locks regions to one party is not democracy.

Proportional representation ensures every vote counts, no matter where you live.
