A feature in the Vermilion Cliffs-Paria Canyon Wilderness that I've dubbed the "Dragon's Back." When I'm out there scrambling up a bunch of loose rock - which I didn't really intend to do - the world's woes disappear for a while.

A friend of mine's elderly dog took a new chew bone, walked to his kennel, and passed away shortly afterward.

I'm brokenhearted for them, but sixteen years for a big dog is quite an extraordinary life. And he died, happy and warm in his den, with a snack under his chin.

May we all be so lucky.

Fisher Towers are a group of rock towers near Moab, Utah, made of Cutler sandstone, capped with Moenkopi sandstone, and coated in a crust of red mud. They’re named after a miner who lived nearby in the 1880s and rise about 900 feet above the valley floor.
