Writing, reading, running.

Poetry PhD: vital instability in the 2nd generation Romantics.

Am actually writing.

Interested in the amplification of working class voices, northern voices, & kind & talented voices.

Writing, I swear.

Meliorist, still.
Yesterday I called Jim Ratcliffe a prick after hearing his comments about immigration.

In light of his statement today that he is sorry if his comments comments offended some people, I would like to clarify that I still think he is a prick.

Yesterday I observed a second grade classroom as part of some consulting work I'm doing. I was really reminded of how incredible it is to watch teachers' brains process about eleventy billion different inputs at the same time. It's the same feeling you get watching the Olympics - master of the craft

I arrive at the shop. Fred springs out of his car with his new knee. I shake his hand. We carry the papers in. There is general rejoicing at his return. He says we’ve had a lot of rain, and wanders off to buy cat food.

There is something fascinating about her psyche. Her and Nadine Dorries.

They're like if M C Escher did brains.
Truss craves relevancy, attention and respect. Instead, she faces 30 + years of ridicule.
She would be well advised to concentrate on being a good spouse, parent, friend, member of the community. I reckon she'd be far happier.

My daughter was stopped from using a dictionary at school and told to look it up with AI.

She reads about two books a day and for Christmas I got her socks that say "bookmarks are for quitters" and then had to stop her wearing them every day.

I'm deciding how angry I want to get about this.

Very interesting piece about a poet now forgotten
I wrote about Patience Strong, almost certainly the best-selling English poet of the twentieth century, who wrote six poems a week for the Daily Mirror (all on a Monday morning) as well as a hit song, greeting cards and calendars, and whose print runs were in the 100,000s

I'd be mortified if my party was in power but the only argument I had for people to vote for my party was just to stop Reform getting in & I had to beg the Greens to back out for that to even happen.

@lucympowell.bsky.social has turned off replies and quote posts but I'd like her to see this.

Sunshine! Actually bloody sunshine! Here in this corner of Yorkshire. And a daffodil in my garden is gearing up, I can see it.

Read an article today about how there is 'no end in sight' to the rain we've had. Well, I'm creating my own spring.

Piss off winter. I'm done with you now.

"We thank too many people, often mindlessly. Thank you, shop assistant (whose job it is to help you shop). Thank you, bus driver (who is getting paid to drive the bus)."
I get that it’s clickbait but it’s a wretched thing to say when these workers have to deal with all sorts of rude bastards daily.
