Let's fucking go!! Also a pregnant coyote swam to Angel Island (also in the SF bay but not nearly as far or dangerous as Alcatraz) and now she's a grandma and there are like 12 coyotes on the island
i've been watching the coyote on Alcatraz's progress with great interest. a week-ish ago, a coyote SWAM to Alcatraz for the first time and looked fuckin rough after the dangerous swim. but the coyote is doing fine now, gorging itself on unprepared birds & rats who are dealing with a sort of Godzilla

Incredible suggestion that an enemy of the US should just publicly disclose their intelligence on CIA operations... The US only discloses intelligence willy-nilly because 1., they don't mind throwing blackmailed foreign assets to the wolves, and 2., half of it is made up anyways

i think it will be easy - the elite media class wanted to create a culture of repression and they got exactly what they wanted. all the "free speech" whining was harder to explain in 2016 than it is today, and i think things will only be clearer in 2036
Years from now, it'll be difficult to explain the things people in media were wailing about before all this. Sophomores writing underconsidered op-eds about cultural appropriation. Protests against demagogues on campus. YA drama. "Mobs" on Twitter. These were the threats to free society.

People don’t understand the value Anna’s Archive provides. It’s a publicly available archive of a very large amount of written works. People don’t understand the costs of keeping an archive like this going. Charging AI companies to access their library which is already publicly available is a win.
A few months ago I was curious to know how much Anna's Archive was charging AI developers for access to their massive library of pirated works for training - so I emailed them saying I was interested in buying access.
