You need to be Victorianmaxxing. You need to be going Edwardian mode. Can't really go wrong with this selection if chills and thrills and more than a century of remove is what you're after

I really don't like the idea of the Children of the Forest creating the Others. Especially from men. It's so pat. The Others should be eldritch faeries!

I'd never quite picked up until now that Maegor the Cruel was probably a homunculus and that's likely why he's shooting cursed loads

Watching early Game of Thrones seasons: whoa, The Hound is this epic guy who swears

Reading ASOIAF: I can't fucking believe they made him an epic guy who swears

My most crank ASOIAF opinion that I believe with no caveats is that Tyrion should be the valonqar, not Jaime. If it's Jaime it'll just be Cersei going "d'oh!" but if it's Tyrion that's so ugly and horrific for both of them, and much more tragic and grimly ironic imo

Nominate metal imo but supposing you don't you should nominate Uh-Oh! by Tipsy and I may forgive you

What did H. P. Lovecraft think of classic Universal horror movies? A deep dive into Lovecraft's letters reveals the films he did and didn't watch, in Lovecraft & Universal Horror.

Deeper Cut: Lovecraft & Universal Horror
I don’t attend the cinema very often, but realise what a marvellous conveyer of weird images & impressions it could be if it would only utilise seriously its tremendous range of optical & m…

Sister Janet Mead mogged???
Sister Irene O'Connor's Fire of God's Love is going down a storm here today!

First authorised reissue of this holy grail since 1976; the album restored and remastered. Sincere, soulful, and unconsciously psychedelic.

reissue made with loads of love: monorailmusic.com/product/fire...

Listening to Pavement's Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain. Heard this a few times before and my impression of it is always that it's just kinda Slanted & Enchanted again without as much spark

Watching The Night Strangler. Looks as though Kolchak may have a Frankenstein on his hands

Thought for a brief horrified moment that Dave Mustaine says "covid lies" on this new Megadeth album, but it was actually "coded lies"

Beef tallow is a bit overpowering, flavor-wise, innit

Maybe the most insane thing about the wait for Winds of Winter, to me, is that George did not release a stopgap to *finish* FeastDance and is instead folding the intended ending of those into the beginning of Winds

My current deal with the universe wrt ASOIAF is that I can cope with it never being finished, any fan has been making their peace with that possibility for at least a decade, but I do want The Winds of Winter. I'm gonna have to insist upon that.

One thing about the Masters of the Universe trailer—when Idris Elba goes "whoo-hoo-hooo!", that particular bit is one of the most godawful tics of modern blockbusters, where you signal that even the characters themselves are amazed by all this crazy stuff, just like you! Terrible, hacky.

Probably gonna listen to Megadeth's last album today. Serious question: is Megadeth the most successful example of a borderline non-singer in a format which generally demands a capable frontman? I don't say this with hate in my heart it's one of the things I find interesting about Megadeth

Annoyed that the extracanonical Sherlock Holmes novel I'm reading (The Italian Secretary) seems like it might be bad. About ⅓ through, I just don't think this author quite has the rhythms, the verisimilitude, down.
